Canby United Classic Program forms teams through an open try out system. Players try out and are offered positions on a team if in the opinion of the coaching staff and evaluators the player meets the standard for the Canby United teams. It is the purpose of our Classic program to provide higher levels of training and competition to those players of above average ability and level of commitment.
We prepare our players to be recognized by collegiate and Olympic Development Programs for their superior quality of play, knowledge and ability to articulate the game, sportsmanship, and passion for the sport. The Classic Program coaches are selected and paid for their services.
What are the goals of the Classic Program?
To provide a competitive soccer environment for players who desire an increased level of competition from that offered by the Recreation Program.
Classic level entails tryouts, and a higher level of commitment from players and their families.
To promote fair play, respect and sportsmanship among the players, coaches and parents.
To provide quality coaching and training to enhance each player’s technical skills and tactical awareness.
To develop competitive teams which strive for success while supporting the needs, dignity and self-respect of the players, parents and coaches.
What type of commitment does playing at the Classic Level entail?
Practice is usually two-three times per week through the summer, fall and spring.
Weekend tournaments in the summer as chosen by each coach and team.
Participation in the Mt. Hood Challenge tournament August 19-21st. Teams are playing in it and we use it as our club fundraiser so we need family support that weekend or assistance planning.
Fall season which runs from early September through the end of October. Teams usually play in a post season tournament which takes place in November.
Optional Spring Season (small separate fees) and winter indoor (small separate fees).
